Dear Parent/Guardians and Students:
This past month we had our fall PTA fund raiser. I want to thank the PTA for all the preparation and work that went into this year's walk-a-thon and all of our families for your support in the fund raiser. We raised over $8,000 and $5,000 of the money has been donated by the PTA to the school. The $5,000 will come back to the students through field trips, class activities, UBI student behavior incentives and towards our school play in the spring.
Last month, I mentioned a new safety program that has been adopted by the Weber School District and others in the area. This is called the Safety Response Protocol (SRP). Essentially, this involves four main safety actions in the event of an emergency. These four actions are: Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter. There has been an initial training for all staff with ongoing discussions about the safety protocol. Each month a drill will be practiced to help students learn what to do in the case of an emergency.
